The story of Charles Littlebury Webb

Born in Glebe, NSW, 35 year-old tailor Charles Littlebury Webb enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force in Brisbane in April 1915. Described as a dutiful son by his parents, he was assigned to the 9th battalion and left Australia in late 1915 to join them on Gallipoli.

Following the evacuation he went with his battalion to Egypt before transferring to France in March, 1916. In August he went missing in action, a status which was later changed to killed in action.

He is remembered on the Villers-Bretonneux memorial.
