C.E. Blanchard

The story of Cyril Edgar Blanchard

Born in Rockdale NSW, 26 year-old Cyril Edgar Blanchard enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force in September 1915. A dairyman by trade he was assigned to the 1st battalion.

He left Australia in December, arriving in the Middle East in early 1916 to join the rest of his battalion who had recently withdrawn from Gallipoli. He then sailed with them to France in March where he was killed less than three months later.

He has no known grave and is remembered on the Villers-Bretonneux memorial.
