E.A. Allsop
The story of Ernest Allen Allsop

Ernest Allen Allsop was an 18 year-old railway porter from Sydney when he enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force in July 1915 having previously been a cadet. He arrived in the Middle East in late 1915 and spent several months training in the desert before leaving for France in March 1916.
He served with his battalion for all of 1916, except for a few brief stints in the hospital sick. He was also charged on one occasion for using insubordinate language with his superior. In November 1916 Allsop was seriously wounded with gun shot wounds to the leg, thigh and abdomen, only to die of these a few days later at the 36th casualty clearing station.
He is buried in Heilly StationCemetery.
